Hi guys, I recently played a tennis match and was getting called a cheat by the other person’s father and was allowing it to make me lose focus on the match and lose the first set. The court supervisor came on and never had to over rule any of my calls.
I eventually won the match on a championship tiebreak but did not enjoy the match due to the circumstances. I was wondering if you could do a blog on how to handle these situations? Kind regards, Sam
Thanks for asking this important question. In the near future I will write new article about this crucial aspect of athletic career. Right now I would like to give you some tips to help you deal with this kind of situation.
You have to remember to keep focus on things that you can control. You can control your movement, your decisions as also your strategy. You can’t control the weather, opponents’ game plan as well as spectators’ words.
Some tennis players call others cheaters because of two reasons: they think they are cheaters or they want to disturb their games. If you know that you don’t play against the rules then you should never pay attention to these words.
Just tell yourself that this guy wants to use cheap tricks to get you out of your best performance. It is another challenge that you have to deal with so approach it in the right way and show others that it is not so easy to put you in mental troubles.
