Dear, have just red your article how many hours should junior tennis players train. We have similar, almost the same experience. My kid was born in 2005, and until this season she has 4 x 2 hours individual and 2 x 2 hours in group and 2 x 1 conditioning weekly. We keep that the same. She is 14 year-old. Now our coaches said she needs to have 20 hours of tennis per week (???). She won tournaments and she had no injuries. I am so afraid of that “hours”. Please is there any advice?
This is a very difficult question to answer. It depends on a number of factors, but you probably need to start by asking what your daughter would like? Does she want to put in more hours on the tennis court, and if so why? She needs to decide if this is important to her. Some of the other factors you need to consider would be the following:
The coaches need to be able to explain to her clearly as to how more hours on the court will help her accomplish her goals.
