Who Will Win the 2014 Sony Open Tennis?
Who will win the 2014 Sony Open tennis? That is a good question and many tennis fans and specialists try to answer it.
First a look at women’s side of the tournament. I think the Miami Masters look more interesting than the previous contest in Indian Wells because, as we know, the Williams’s sisters have boycotted the California tournament since 2002. Fortunately, Serena and Venus play at the Sony Open. In my opinion, today’s match Venus Williams v. Dominika Cibulkova was one of the most intriguing and spectacular matches so far in Miami. Venus played great and in the middle of the third set seemed like she was able to overcome Cibulkova and progress to the next round of the competition. But finally Dominika won 6 – 3. In the next match she will play my favorite player Agnieszka Radwanska. They know each other well because Agnieszka and Dominika have had plenty of previous match ups. I am seriously hoping that Radwanska will emerge victorious in the upcoming match. After Venus lost the match only one American women player – her sister Serena Williams – continues to participate in the tournament. Tomorrow she will play Angelique Kerber. Many experts and coaches are sure that Serena Williams has the greater chance of winning than any of her main rivals. And also many of them think that Serena is #1 candidate for the trophy in Miami. By the way, Caroline Wozniacki has showed confident and reliable play. It took only 55 minutes for her to beat Sloane Stephens.
On the other hand, on the men’s side, we observe that the “Big Four” players have played very good. We saw a big surprise come from Andy Murray and Ivan Lendl who decided to separate their ways. Despite the fact Murray continues to show his sure and solid game. So, who will be the winner? Some say, Rafael Nadal looks very aggressive and can win the tournament. I’m hoping that Federer, Djokovic and Murray don’t share that opinion as well as Stanislas Wawrinka. And one American player John Isner still plays the competition after defeating Nicolas Almagro; his huge serve and strong forehand has helped him reach Tomas Berdych in the next match. I expect Isner to defeat Berdych in this encounter though.
Finally, the 2014 Miami Masters is interesting and exciting to watch. I try to watch most of the tennis matches there and I like that most of them are unpredictable and intriguing, so you never know for sure who will be the winner and who will be the loser. Let’s watch and enjoy the 2014 Sony Open.
